Making decisions for our families in today’s world has become increasingly more challenging. We have so many things to be concerned about, research to sift through before making our final decision or purchase. Finding Non-Toxic lunch boxes and dishes for kids is easier now than it used to be.

Most of us know by now the concerns about BPA(Bisphenol A).  A chemical found in plastic containers as well as canned foods and packaging.  BPA has been found to be a hormone disruptor and acts like estrogen.  It’s been linked to cancer, infertility, brain, nervous, diabetes and other health concerns.   There have been significant changes on the labeling front.  Now you will find clearly marked BPA-free on many items.  However, we are now learning there are concerns with BPA-free as well. The compounds that make up packaging or containers raise concerns in our families overall health condition.  More research is still necessary, but we do know other alternatives are a safer choice.

Stainless Steel

Stainless steel is a great alternative and my personal choice.  It is antibacterial and doesn’t leach chemicals. So easy to clean and doesn’t harbor smells or odors.

LunchBots Quad Stainless Steel Food Container  This is ideal for small lunch or snacks.  LunchBots come in 1-5 compartments. This container is designed for snacks or dry foods.  It does not come with a leakproof lid.  Dishwasher safe for easy clean up.

Glass

Glass products are another alternative for families.  Duralex is made in France since 1939, are impact and chip resistant.  Extremely durable tempered glass 2.5 times stronger than ordinary glass.  They are the freezer, microwave, and dishwasher safe.  Suitable for hot or cold items. Glass also is a nonporous product and won’t absorb liquids.

I love this one because it comes in a set and is so affordable.  Duralex Made In France Kids 12-pc Glass Set. Set Includes (4) 4 -5/8 oz. Picardie Glasses,( 4) 7-1/2 inch Lys Plates & (4) 4-3/4 inch Lys Bowls

Lifefactory has a great line of bottles with a silicone outer covering.  They have a huge selection starting with infant bottles through all stages up to adult.  A variety of colors and tops depending on your preference.

Replacing plastic lunch bags with a healthier alternative will save so much money as well as our environment.  I love these  Lunchskins 3pk Reusable Sandwich Bags.  These bags are lightweight cotton, easy to clean they simply go in the dishwasher and are ready to reuse.  Lots of sizes and colors to choose from.

If you aren’t into reusing bags try these Unbleached Paper Snack & Sandwich Bags a great alternative.  I like to use these when taking treats or snacks to my daughter’s events.  Fun for kids to decorate as well.
