So who doesn’t love a burger? I know I do!

In the coastal town, we live in there is a small local place called “Chop Street” they have the best burgers you will ever eat.  They are made with grass-fed meat, grilled to perfection! Topped on a lettuce wrap or gluten-free bun with grilled onions, tomatoes, pickles, and their special sauce. When the burger arrives and you take your first bite your taste buds are excited and in overdrive.  The meat is so moist that the juice is oozing out of the sides with every bite and the mix of flavors is absolutely spectacular.

I have attempted to recreate this perfect burger at home.  Try it, take a bite, and let me know if you think its the best homemade burger.

Best Burger You Will Ever Eat

Ingredients Serve 4

1 pound bison meat( or organic grass-fed beef)If you haven’t tried bison meat you have no idea what you are missing! It’s packed with flavor and nutrients.

2 Cloves garlic

3 TBSP finely chopped onion

1 1/2 tsp dried rosemary

1 1/2 tsp dried basil or oregano

1/4 tsp salt

1/4 tsp pepper

2 TBSP coconut oil

1/2 cup chicken broth

4 Large leaves Butter lettuce(or buns if you prefer)BFree Gluten-Free rolls, Seeded Brown, Vegan, Soy Free, Egg Free, Nut Free, Dairy Free,

1/2 cup Cleveland Kraut (Whiskey Dill Sauerkraut) (optional)

Or make your own slaw topping with shredded carrots and cabbage.

Directions:

In a large bowl, combine meat, onion, garlic, & spices.  Mix ingredients and form into 4 large patties. In a saucepan, over medium heat melt, coconut oil once melted add burger patties.  Turn after 5-8 mins on each side don’t allow to burn or overcook. Once they start to get brown add the broth into the pan and allow the meat to soak up all the juice. (The trick is to remove them at just the right time and allow them to continue cooking once removed from the heat. The burger should be slightly pink inside.)

Remove from the pan assemble the burger by layering lettuce, burger, tomato, sauerkraut and top with another lettuce leaf or use a bun if you prefer. ENJOY!

Variations:

Top with guacamole, add cheese, make your own special sauce, or add some bacon.
