Turmeric is a spice and has been rapidly growing in popularity which is good news for your health.  Studies are revealing turmeric has anti-cancer as well as anti-inflammatory benefits. Turmeric also helps aid in digestion and immune support  A growing trend is to drink turmeric milk or tea, especially at bedtime. Healing benefits of turmeric milk are many let’s explore them.

 

Curcumin is the yellow spice which also gives curry its yellow appearance.  Turmeric has been found to contain many substances like beta-amyloid that blocks the function of plaque that is responsible for Alzheimer’s.  Turmeric naturally decreases these markers. To achieve the health benefits, you must consume a significant amount.  One way is sipping on a warm cup of turmeric milk or tea.

 

 

Healing Benefits of Turmeric Milk

 

Ingredients

 

  • 2-inch piece of fresh turmeric or one tsp of ground 
  • 2-inch piece of fresh ginger or one tsp ground 
  • 2 cups coconut milk(can use other non-dairy options)or even coconut water(if using water use 2 additional cups)
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • pinch of fresh ground black pepper(needed for absorption) 
  • 1 tsp raw honey
  • 2 lemons juiced

 

Directions

 

In a small saucepan add grated fresh turmeric and ginger Or ground spices, add fresh lemon juice.   Warm to the desired temperature.  Remove frim heat and add honey and stir. Drink & Enjoy!  Use the remaining the next day.  Remember when you reheat use the stove top.  Microwaves will overheat and remove all the healthy nutrients.
